Born, Christopher James Funches, January 17, 1990 to Patricia Hobbs & Maxcell Spriggs II. The oldest of 6 children, and the oldest grandchild of Maxcell Spriggs Sr. & Carmelia Spriggs. He grew up in Jackson, Ms, and often visited Hattiesburg, Ms where his family is located. At a very young age, he had plans of becoming a professional football player like his uncle. He had a passion for art after watching cartoons as a kid. He always liked music rather it was pop, rap, or RnB. He was alway a child who expressed himself through his artwork but when his cousin died his passion for drawing slowly ceased to exist. His plans of becoming of professional athlete came to a halt also. During that time, he founded comfort from listening to rap songs. During his Junior-High school years all his friends wanted to be rappers, beat-makers, and dancers. He deciding to rap also along side with his cousin, Addison "Lil A" Lee. Back in those days he never took rapping really serious, it was just for fun, his rap name back then was "C-Dawg." During High school he went to Provine High School, he met a friend "Ken Kirklon" who was into music like he was. It was through that friend that he took his rap seriously and to become a artist. He was influence by a lot of rappers, but he took more notice of Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and T.I.. During his sophomore year in High school he started writing his lyrics down into his notebook. He went by the name "Young CrisCo." After awhile his mother, littler brother, and him moved across town. The move hurt him but he hid his emotions so that his mother will be happy. He decided to stop rapping due to he loss connections with his friends. He went back to his old plan of becoming a athlete, so he joined the football team, soon after he loss interest in it and was kicked off the team. He later made new friends, those who were interested into music and some just wanted to hang around. During his senior year of high school he went through the tragedy of losing both his great grandmother and his grandmother. After their passing he went down the wrong way and started his criminal life, soon he got arrested and served time in jail. It was then he realized that what he was doing was wrong, and he went back to rapping when he got out. Due to lack of money there was not much he can do to showcase his skills as rapper. His first song he wrote and people love it was "Crook by the Book" which is the story of him telling what he used to do. During 2008 he changed his named to "ChrisJF". He also started working a mixtape, he had several songs he had, he show cased them to his close friends and they were very brutal on him. He took a step back and started to learn the concept of making good music, and learning how to produce good quality. In 2009, he teamed back up with his cousin and made a song called "Wood Work", he recieved good reviews back from his family and friends and also started a fan base. Later that year he released a song called "Gun Lullaby" what really started career as a serious artist. |
